Engineering
Engineers are responsible for overseeing and conducting engineering studies, developing design drawings and/or specifications, and performing related administrative duties. These positions can be governed by state and federal law and agency policy. Typical engineers inspect sites to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and state and federal regulations during all phases of construction and/or inspects existing facilities for fire and safety code compliance and proper equipment operation. Completes reports of findings and takes necessary action to correct deficiencies. Designs, drafts, and/or reviews plans of proposed projects, and reviews engineering reports, plans, and specifications for compliance with all regulations and guidelines. Consults with public officials, consulting engineers, and architects, concerning design recommendations and/or design modifications for projects. Gathers data and researches technical information for monthly reports and for various studies. Prepares written inspection reports and performs other duties as assigned.
